  11.   Orpheus is a powerful 2-part system for hypertext authoring and electronic
  12.   publishing.  The authoring program makes hypertext writing amazingly easy.
  13.   Link text, graphics, forms, scripts, other books, other programs, in an
  14.   advanced writer-friendly environment.  The reading program is a commercial-
  15.   quality interface for end-users -- at a fraction of the cost of commercial
  16.   systems.  Comes with clear tutorials, detailed context-sensitive help, a
  17.   host of built-in tools to help you create outstanding electronic documents.

  19.       Orpheus is distributed as shareware and costs $79.  You are welcome
  20.       to evaluate Orpheus for up to 30 days, after which you are expected
  21.       to register the software if you wish to continue using it.

  32.   o  If you received Orpheus on diskette, place the disk containing
  33.      INSTALL.EXE in your diskette drive, switch to that drive, then give
  34.      the following command at the DOS prompt:
  35.  
  36.           INSTALL    <Enter>
  37.  
  38.      The Orpheus Install program will do the rest, safely placing the
  39.      Orpheus system wherever you want on your hard drive.  Install does
  40.      *not* do anything to your autoexec.bat or config.sys files, nor to
  41.      any previous hypertext files if you are installing an upgrade.
  42.   o  If you downloaded Orpheus from a BBS, just unzip all files into a
  43.      directory on your hard drive.

  46. Getting Started:

  49.   The sample book "Introducing Orpheus" demonstrates some of what you can
  50.   accomplish with Orpheus.  To read it with the Orpheus Reader, give the
  51.   following command at the DOS prompt:

  53.           OHREAD INTRO.HTX     <Enter>

  55.   or just OHREAD <Enter>.

  57.   For a comprehensive introduction to Orpheus, including tutorials on how
  58.   to create hypertext and produce electronic books and magazines, see 
  59.   MANUAL1.DOC.  To start up the authoring program, give the following command 
  60.   at the DOS prompt:

  64.   Explore the menus and online help.  For an explanation of any menu item,
  65.   move the selection bar to that item and press <F1> -- or click on it with
  66.   the right mouse button.  The tutorials in MANUAL1.DOC show you how to write
  67.   hypertext, how to import text from external files, how to use graphics,
  68.   and so on.

  103.   For free access to download Orpheus from Synapse, log on as ORPHEUS USER
  104.   and give the password VISITOR.  Use the <L>ocate command to find the latest
  105.   files:  "L ORPH*.*".  Synapse is a Fido board (1:163/230) so you can FREQ
  106.   the latest version using the magic name ORPHEUS.  On Synapse you can leave
  107.   messages for me at the main board or in conference 1022 (Orpheus Support).

  117.   procedure described above for Synapse.  Afterlife is a Fido board
  118.   (1:109/182), and you can FREQ Orpheus from it too.

  121.   ORPH files, and look for the three with the highest version number.
